Whether you’re stepping onto the career ladder for the first time or want a new challenge, Boston Borough Council could have just the opportunity you’re looking for.
We’d like to recruit a highly motivated individual to fill an apprenticeship vacancy in the planning and economic development team.
Apprenticeships are for a fixed 15-month term, and we pay the national minimum apprenticeship wage (currently £4.15 an hour) for the first year, rising to the full national minimum wage for the remainder of the apprenticeship. As well as working in our busy development management department, the successful candidate will study towards a Level 2 business and administration qualification.
The workload will be varied and interesting, with a 35-hour, Monday to Friday contract. Anyone can apply – there are no age restrictions for our apprenticeships.
The team you’ll be supporting is responsible for deciding planning applications for new developments from individual builds to large-scale projects. They also deal with other types of application such as adverts, listed buildings and works to protected trees, and are the first port of call for all town planning enquiries.
Here’s what our current apprentice had to say: “The best part of my job for me is learning all about the different sides of the department – there’s never a day where I don’t learn something new about planning or enforcement law, and it’s great to be around people who have years of experience, because not only can I learn from it but it is also interesting.”
If you are enthusiastic, conscientious and self-motivated, have good organisational skills, an excellent telephone manner and the ability to plan and prioritise effectively to meet deadlines, you may be just the person we’re looking for. You don’t need to have previous experience, but you must be willing to undertake all the required training and development activities you’re offered.
For more information about the apprenticeship programme, contact Jo Glynn, our learning and development coordinator, on 01205 314260, or email your questions to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Closing date for applications is May 31.
