Council Tax Energy Bill Rebate

On 3 February 2022, the government announced a support package to help households with rising energy bills.

Update 22nd July 2022: we have paid the rebate to the 17,000 direct debit payers who we believe qualify for the rebate. There are a small number of direct debit payers whose details we have not been able to validate, and they have been written to along with 12,000 non-direct debit payers inviting them to supply their bank account details so that we can pay them. We have already received several thousand applications, but our phone lines are very busy and we would ask that you do not call us unless you cannot complete the form or get someone to complete it for you. You can link to the application form here.

Please be assured we aim to get these payments to you all as soon as we safely can do so.

The Council Tax Energy rebate is a £150 payment to residents living in a property in Council Tax bands A to D.  This amount is a one-off payment, and is not a loan.

You can check your Council Tax band with the Valuation Office Agency (VOA). However, we would advise you not to contact the VOA to enquire about a band review, proposal or challenge specifically in order to become eligible for this payment.

Please note: The Government has given the Council until September to make all payments.
