Love gardening but dislike the time, mess and cost of taking the waste to the tip?
The fast, clean and cost effective alternative is a subscription to Boston Borough Council’s efficient garden waste collection service which you could also be in with a chance of getting your garden waste taken away FOR FREE this coming growing season.
Due to delivery costs of the service increasing since it was launched four years ago, and with the council continuing to face considerable budgetary pressures we have had to make the decision to increase the charge for garden waste collections. So from Season 5 2020/21 the cost will increase to £45 per year for collection of a single bin plus £20 for collection of each additional bin. For those new to the service, or those requiring extra bins, there will be a one-off charge of £25 to buy each bin plus the service charge. The payment lines for the 2020/21 season will be opening on Monday 3rd February 2020 for those wishing to pay online by Direct Debit or card payment. Other payment methods including cash and telephone payments will be open from Monday 17th February 2020.
If you paid by Direct Debit last year and this payment is still active, you do not need to do anything, we will contact you shortly.
New and existing Direct Debit customers will have the chance of entering a prize draw competition where 10 lucky people will be in with the chance of winning the Season 5 service for FREE. The incentive was previously introduced to encourage more to use the easiest, quickest and most economic way for the council to register those who want to take advantage of the service for the coming growing season. Please note this offer is not open to Boston Borough Council employees or elected members.
For those who signed up in 2019/20 the service will resume week commencing Monday 24th February 2020, and run to the end of March, 2020.
Cllr Yvonne Stevens, portfolio holder for waste services at Boston Borough Council, said: “Yet again we are providing an excellent service for householders to dispose of their garden waste, easily, correctly and effectively.
“Despite the increase in the cost of the service, Boston Borough Council remains one of the cheapest garden waste collection services in the county.”
“While anyone can still take their own garden waste to the Household Waste Recycling Centre at Bittern Way for no charge, the council’s collection service means residents do not have to move dirty waste in their own vehicles or pay someone else to it away for them.”
